Oncology Data Specialist – Cancer Registrar

What You’ll Do:

• Collect, abstract, and maintain comprehensive cancer data in compliance with state, national, and institutional standards.
• Review pathology, cytology, autopsy, radiation therapy, and diagnostic reports for case-finding and treatment documentation.
• Translate medical terminology into standardized codes for diagnosis and treatment.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of data for all cancer patients treated at Loyola University Medical Center.
• Maintain compliance with Commission on Cancer standards (6.1–6.5) to support Loyola’s accreditation.
• Average 4–6 case abstractions per day depending on complexity.

What You’ll Need:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) or ability to obtain within 30 months of employment
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding standards
• Experience with cancer registry software and reporting systems preferred

Compensation:  

Pay Range: $23.18 - $35.92 per hour 

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
