Description:

The Assistant Nurse Manager of the Birthing Suite at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, IL is a registered professional nurse, conversant with the nursing process, who has accountability when the nurse manager is not present during the assistant nurse manager’s shift. The assistant nurse manager will support the nurse manager in developing long term planning, human and fiscal resources in a designated patient care area. Compliance with all regulatory groups to ensure safe, ethical and quality patient/family centered-care is required. The assistant nurse manager promotes MAGIS behavior within the organization and patient care area; and supports various health system-sponsored programs. Recognizes, promotes and consistently applies knowledge of 14 Forces of Magnetism.

Position responsibilities:

  • Operationalize the organization’s mission, philosophy, operating principles, model of care, and strategic plans/goals.
  • Participates in developing, implementing and evaluating the annual department goals and objectives in alignment with the mission, philosophy, operating
  • principles, model of care and strategic plans/goals.
  • Ensures ongoing compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and professional standards impacting the clinical area.
  • Ensures staff knowledge and participation in quality improvement activities, including but not limited to The Joint Commission’s core measure projects, national Patient Safety Goals initiatives, and NDNQI goals; evidenced-based projects and research activities (as delegated by the manager).
  • Participates in the bi-annual review of all unit-specific policies/procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and evidenced based practice. Communicates current professional nursing standards that reflect standards of care for specific patient populations.
  • Participates in house-wide quality and safety indicators and evidenced-based projects and establishes unit specific quality indicators.
  • Establishes unit based evidenced-based projects/research projects as
    appropriate.
  • Utilizes the patient safety communication system, identify appropriate. Utilize the patient safety communication system, identify opportunities for improvement and lead/participate in initiatives to improve quality and safety.
  • Demonstrates improvement in the quality and safety of patient care through an interdisciplinary unit-based committee/mechanism, which monitors the effectiveness/appropriateness and outcomes of patient care.

Minimum Education:

  • Associate's degree in nursing required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years designate/charge nurse experience is preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse License State of Illinois
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • Specialty certification in a clinical or functional area of nursing granted by a national nursing organization is preferred.
  • Cross trained in L&D, Post Partum preferred

Pay range: $40.46 hr.- $64.74 hr.

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
