Position Purpose:

Under the guidance of the Director of Environmental Services, and in accordance with the Trinity Health Strategic Plan, supervises one or more shifts of the day-to-day, 24x7 operations of the Environmental Services Department, including team leaders. Accountable for ensuring total quality cleanliness of all hospital interior spaces (and some exterior) as evidenced by internal quarterly housekeeping audits. 

Minimum qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of related experience and proven abilities to perform the essential functions of the job

  • Prior experience in the health care, hotel, hospitality, manufacturing, construction, or other related field

What the Environmental Services Supervisor will need:

• Possess excellent verbal and written language skills / communication skills to:

  • gain consensus with doctors, nurses, leadership team, peers, and staff members when solving significant operations
  • issues and concerns
  • persuade, influence and guide team members to meet cleanliness objectives
  • speak effectively and persuasively to large groups of primarily English speaking individuals.
  • effectively build and sustain teams with diverse backgrounds in order to maintain and increase cleanliness.

• Understand the basic principles of individual and team dynamics and human resources in order to:

  • de-escalate potential conflict among staff members
  • coach and train staff members to achieve team success
  • act as a mentor/life coach with the goal of modeling Excellence in Action behaviors and teaching staff how to be a
  • success on-the-job
  • issue corrective action and implement performance enhancement plans when needed
  • conduct annual staff performance assessments
  • perform hiring and terminations

• Possess advanced problem solving skills that will be demonstrated by:

  • quickly assessing complex problems with people and systems and devising sustainable solutions with the goal toward
  • advancing the cleanliness of the institution
  • having an understanding of how to provide education to individuals and groups that will hardwire both operational
  • knowledge and character development
  • being able to achieve and sustain budgetary results while, at the same time, meeting patient and staff cleanliness needs.
