Description:

Position Purpose

For the Mandell Multiple Sclerosis Center, responsible for ensuring appropriate and accurate submission of insurance prior authorization requests for outpatient hospital infusion services.  The scope of the position involves interpreting insurance coverage, understanding outpatient hospital insurance benefits and reviewing clinical documentation for prior authorization submission.  Other responsibilities include assisting patients with billing related inquiries when necessary.

What you will do

  • Assist patients with process for obtaining infusion and copay assistance to assist with financial concerns

  • Communicate to registration, billing and case management concerning billing when necessary

  • Prepare authorization requests for patients being infused at outside infusion Sites

  • Demonstrate proficiency with review of medical record to submit appropriate medical information for review as part of the authorization process

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree preferred

  • 3 years' experience in a health care environment with exposure to the benefit verification process

  • Experience with obtaining/authorizing services with various insurance companies preferred
