Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Physical Therapy Aide!
As a Physical Therapy Aide at MercyOne, you will under close supervision, be responsible for assisting the Physical, Occupational and/or Speech Therapy staff in routine patient care activities. Possesses the skills necessary to provide direct patient care specific to each age group in accordance with department protocol. The age of the patients served range in age from infants to geriatrics.
Schedule:
PRN (Hours and shifts may vary). We are predominately looking for weekend coverage (8-hour shifts) on an every two to three weekend rotation, and two holidays per year.
General Requirements:
Adheres to the principles of caring and expected behaviors outlined in Mercy Medical Center's Model of Caring and Trinity Health's Code of Conduct, fostering a climate where all customers are treated in a manner consistent with Mercy Medical Center's Mission and Values.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.
Care of patient:
Follows therapist instruction regarding patient care needs.
Completes basic patient care duties, including transferring, toileting, walking and management of medical equipment, with minimal supervision.
Seeks input from therapist and communicates needs.
Completes appropriate paperwork, as needed.
Monitors patients’ needs and communicates needs with therapist/nursing.
Communicates with staff:
Utilizes voicemail and email to streamline process.
Efficiently directs calls to appropriate person.
Provides information appropriate for persons involved (need to know basis).
Contributes to positive work environment.
3. Interpersonal skills:
Positive interaction with staff members.
Transfer of information to other staff members in timely, appropriate manner.
Plans day-to-day activities and communicates to others.
Works as a team for the betterment of department.
Provides others with information needed to complete job.
Professionalism:
Supportive of Mercy’s mission and values.
Provides constructive suggestions and input to department needs.
Provides support and direction to staff.
Attends educational seminars and expands knowledge.
Organization:
Keeps area organized and communicates changes to others.
Able to multitask and follow through with assigned duties.
Prioritizes and delegates to others.
Computer:
Proficient in basic typing/computer access.
Proficient in use of fax/email.
Education:
High School Graduate.
Previous patient care experience preferred.
Experience in a Rehabilitation Department preferred.
Knowledge of basic computer skills preferred.
Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter.
