Recreation Coordinator

Location:           LIFE at St Francis Riverfront, Wilmington, DE

Status:               Full time

Shift:                  Mon to Fri, 8 am to 430 pm, no nights/weekends

             

Position Purpose:

The Recreation Coordinator plans and delivers therapeutic and recreational activities for frail elderly LIFE/PACE participants, conducts assessments and reassessments, contributes to individual plans of care, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to support participants’ functional and psychosocial well‑being.

What you will do:

  • Plan and lead recreational activities for elderly and disabled participants

  • Engage participants daily and work directly with staff on the floor

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on care plans and updates

  • Create and manage activity calendars to support engagement and morale

  • Train and support staff assisting with activities

  • Monitor participant well‑being and document progress

  • Manage activity supplies and equipment within budget

  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and confidential environment

  • Adapt to changing needs, emergencies, and workload

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in social or recreational programs with frail or elderly population. Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or Human Services preferred.

  • Minimum of one (1) year documented experience working with a frail or elderly population or if less than one (1) year of experience, must receive appropriate training from the PACE organization on working with a frail or elderly

  • population upon hiring.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic email/calendar systems.

  • Excellent communication, conflict management, customer service, organizational and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to change and be flexible with work priorities.
