We are looking to hire a Triage Registered Nurse for our Medical Oncology clinics in Caldwell!
About this Position: Telephone Triage Nurse manages calls from patients and caregivers to assess and manage symptom-based calls for established patients. Works in a team environment to efficiently promote a positive experience in all aspects of patient care with compassion and kindness. Provides information and education to patients and/or family based on identified needs.
Schedule: 4 10 hr shifts (Thursday off)
General Requirements:
2 years of RN experience, oncology or prior triage experience preferred.
Education:
An associate or bachelor's degree from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
License/Certification:
Must have an RN license in the state of Idaho issued prior to hire date.
Must provide licensure or proof of application in the State of Oregon within 90 days of starting
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Uses effective communication skills and tools to acquire and disseminate relevant information to patient, family, and/or caregiver and interprofessional team.
Works independently, within an RN scope of practice, with other key stakeholders such as physicians, advance practice providers and other members of the healthcare team.
Systematically collects and interprets data relating to the health needs and concerns of the patient, family or caregiver.
Integrates evidenced based care into telephone triage assessment.
Selects and utilizes the appropriate protocol(s) to aid in care of the patient.
Demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to respond to patient requests.
Identifies with the patient how to implement the plan of care.
Provides patient education as an outcome of the call based on assessed need.
Utilize available technology to assist with accurate telephone triage.
Accurately document assessments, education, and interventions
Deliver nursing care that reflects the cultural, spiritual, intellectual, educational and psychological difference of individual patients.
Ensure information is communicated in a culturally sensitive manner.
Seeks experience and acquires knowledge that reflect current practice to maintain skills and competence in telephone nursing, clinical, and professional practice.
Identifies clinical problems related to patient care delivery and/or telephone nursing practice
Participates in quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Seeks opportunities to create mentoring relationships among telehealth RNs.
