Technical Project Manager – R&D Sound & Vibration

Do you want to lead innovative R&D projects that shape the future of sound and vibration measurement technologies? HBK is looking for a Technical Project Manager to drive both minor and major NPI projects from business case to product release — and to strengthen our project execution framework within the Sound & Vibration domain.
At our Virum site, we develop the full measurement chain for sound and vibration applications, including state‑of‑the‑art microphones, accelerometers, preamplifiers, and related technologies. Our products are used globally across aerospace, automotive, civil infrastructure, defence, environmental monitoring, research, and advanced manufacturing.
About the Role
As Technical Project Manager, you will lead cross‑functional R&D projects that span the entire organization. You will work closely with Product Management, Sales, Product Engineering, Strategic Purchasing, Production Planning, and our highly skilled R&D engineers to ensure alignment and successful execution.
You will manage both customer‑specific and platform‑based development projects, ensuring clear communication, structured execution, and high‑quality delivery. Many of your projects will require coordination across multiple disciplines, including electronics designers, mechanical designers, the sourcing team, technical purchasing, planning, and production.
We follow a structured PLC process for NPI projects, supported by Jira for project planning and High Stage for document control. Our approach emphasizes risk management, transparent planning, and the early identification of technical and operational challenges.
Your Primary Responsibilities
Lead multiple R&D projects in parallel, from concept to release
balance accuracy and speed
Establish strong project structures and ways of working to ensure efficiency and cadence
Plan and track all hardware, electronics, and mechanical activities
Guide technical problem‑solving together with the engineering team
Implement and improve project processes across the development lifecycle
Report on progress, cost, quality, and risk to stakeholders and management
What You Bring
Proven track record managing multiple technical projects in parallel
Minimum 5 years of experience in Technical Project Management
A technical background in software, electronics, or mechanics
Experience implementing processes across product development organizations
Ability to build trusting relationships quickly internal and external
Excellent follow up and follow thru across tasks and ability to always keep stakeholders accountable (Eg. Frequent update of the project plans)
It’s an Advantage If You Have
Experience with sensing technologies, microphones, accelerometers, or similar
Preferred worked as a development engineer, bringing a product from idea to full implementation in production
Experience from aerospace or similarly regulated/high‑precision industries
Familiarity with Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Essential SAFe
Knowledge of project methodologies such as PRINCE2 or PMI
