Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer to support control systems, process automation, and day-to-day manufacturing operations within a regulated production environment. This position plays a key role in maintaining and improving PLC-based systems, SCADA platforms, HMIs, and associated electrical infrastructure, while ensuring adherence to regulatory and quality standards.

This role involves both independent work and collaboration with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, IT, Quality, and external partners.

 

Core Responsibilities

Automation & Project Execution

  • Support implementation of automation and process control initiatives
  • Assist with project planning, including scope definition, scheduling, and vendor coordination
  • Configure, program, and test PLCs, SCADA systems, HMIs, and drives
  • Contribute to equipment selection and project closeout activities
  • Provide support for electrical systems related to automation efforts
  • Troubleshooting & Technical Support

    • Diagnose and resolve issues with PLC-controlled systems and SCADA platforms
    • Troubleshoot drives, instrumentation, control panels, and industrial networks
    • Recommend improvements to enhance system performance and reliability
    • System Reliability & Compliance

      • Maintain systems in a validated or controlled state in line with regulatory expectations
      • Support backup, recovery, archiving, and data integrity processes
      • Assist with system upgrades and coordinate with vendors when needed
      • Change Control & Documentation

        • Participate in site change management processes
        • Help maintain control system standards and documentation
        • Support audits, reviews, and validation activities
        • Safety & Regulatory Adherence

          • Follow all safety protocols and regulated manufacturing requirements (including cGMP)
          • Complete required technical and compliance training

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field
  • 5–10 years of experience in industrial automation or control systems
  • Experience working in regulated or cGMP environments is preferred
  • Technical Skills

    • Hands-on experience with PLCs and SCADA systems
    • Knowledge of HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial electrical equipment
    • Familiarity with industrial networking and system troubleshooting
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

Work Environment

  • May require occasional off-hours support in a 24/5 manufacturing setting
  • Work involves exposure to industrial equipment and electrical systems
  • Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs. with appropriate PPE
