Job Scope: Generally responsible for supervision and technical direction over a team of engineers including total delivery of the electrical and instrumentation deliverables and services on time, within performance budget and meeting quality expectations. Duties may include performing advanced engineering work serving as a technical specialist for complex engineering assignments. Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering and involves utilization of project controls for cost control, scheduling and quality of projects. This work will be performed under minimal supervision.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Coordinate with other divisions to manage both work sharing and resource stability.
Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university is required.
Registration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred or may be required.
Experience: This position requires 10 or more years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering and management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of design standards and codes.
Knowledge, application and specification of electrical and instrumentation materials.
Development of material procurement specifications.
Knowledge of good design practices for sizing all electrical and instrumentation systems.
Knowledge of other disciplines deliverable development to ensure coordination of design efforts.
Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all electrical and instrumentation deliverables.
Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks.
Able to develop a construction cost estimate, a detailed engineering schedule and a man-hour budget for a small project or an area for a larger project.
Ability to determine construction material quantities.
Develop design criteria and scope of work.
Ability to create accurate electrical and instrumentation installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings.
Ability to develop electrical and instrumentation installation specifications.
Experienced in estimating and scheduling professional service hours and assessing the progress and quality of electrical and instrumentation work.
Complete understanding of the skills and experience required to perform engineering and design functions.
Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.
Ability to lead a project teams to deliver on commitments.
Ability to act as discipline engineer of record for projects that require professional engineering certification.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent presentation skills.
Ability to recognize talent and fit with respect to culture and organization.
Ability to develop individuals, and therefore the organization, to their full potential.
Excellent virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships. Acknowledged leadership in and proponent of interoffice execution.
