Works under the supervision of the Manager/Supervisor Director and Medical Director of Respiratory Care Services. The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for the planning executing and evaluating the total Respiratory Care of assigned patients. The Respiratory Care Practitioner utilizes current evidenced based Respiratory Care Practice to care for each patient based on the physiological psychosocial and cultural diversity. Works under the direction of the leadership team to provided respiratory services associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans. Responsible for assuring safe practices as referenced in the National Patient Safety Goals and supports best practices as recommended by the American Association of Respiratory Care.

Riverside began serving the Virginia Peninsula community in 1916. In 1963, Riverside moved to the present 72-acre location in Newport News on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard. A 450-bed facility, Riverside Regional Medical Center is the Virginia Peninsulas most comprehensive medical facility combining the most recent computerized medical technology with a healing environment. The Pavilion is a 250,000 sq. ft., $107 million, 3-story addition to Riverside Regional Medical Center, which opened in 2013. This acute care facility provides a regional cancer care center, the Peninsula regions only comprehensive stroke center, the areas only open-heart surgery program, the regions only Level II Trauma Center, and a cornerstone neurosciences program that includes the Chesapeake, Riverside and University of Virginia Radiosurgery Center.

Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Previous respiratory care experience of one year preferred. Must be able to read and comprehend, manipulate numbers, basic computer use and interpret data. Most possess comprehensive knowledge of respiratory process and protocols. PRN Programs require one (1) year of Respiratory Therapy experience.Years of Service: 1 YearRequired/Preferred: Preferred

State of Virginia licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) required. Certification required as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
