OverviewWorks under the supervision of the Practice manager and Physicians. The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for performing spirometry, and complete pulmonary function test on all patients deemed necessary by the physicians.
What you will do- Assists with patient care to include assisting clinical staff with job duties. (Check-in, Check-out, Phone duties, chart checks, and filing).
- Supports and/or provides suggestions for cost containment. Provides feedback in new equipment/product evaluations; identifies and recommends solutions for cost savings and waste reduction.
- Maintains a safe patient care environment by complying with RHS policies/procedures/regulatory requirements that support National Safety Patient Goals and Quality Initiatives.
- The team member works effectively to maintain an environment of excellence. Providing timely, compassionate, and quality patient care. Demonstrates behaviors that reflect “commitment to my co-worker”.
- Keeps all pulmonary function equipment in good working order and stocks with necessary supplies. Responsible for managing ordering and receiving of oxygen supply closet (H Tanks) as well as the (E Tanks).
- Recognizes and responds to variances of patient care/ condition and appropriately notifies physician and team.
- Documents and maintains patients records and charges accurately and entered in a timely manner.
- Performs and records quality control procedures on blood gas analyzer (I-STAT). Performs and records quality control values on the FENO machine daily and records results. Responsible for daily recording of refrigerator temperatures and weekly eye wash performance checks.
- Performs spirometry, complete pulmonary function tests, and FENO testing.
- Performs simple treatments under the authorization of the Physician. (Obtain pulse oximetry readings, hand held neb treatments, peak flow , EKG).
QualificationsEducation- Associates Degree, Respiratory (Required)
- Bachelors Degree, Respiratory (Preferred)
Experience- Pulmonary function testing (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) (Required)
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
