Join Riverside Health as a Lab Manager where you will lead and inspire a team dedicated to delivering exceptional histology and cytology services. This vital role involves organizing, planning, and evaluating departmental services while providing leadership and mentorship to ensure our staff meets the highest standards of patient care. In collaboration with the Medical Director and Administrative Director, you will uphold compliance with regulatory standards, champion quality initiatives, and drive the success of special projects aligned with RHS’s goals and strategic vision.
What You’ll Do
As a Lab Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Resource Management: Ensure the availability of necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies to support optimal patient outcomes. Oversee billing compliance, maintain accurate records, and proactively address discrepancies.
- Budget Oversight: Plan and monitor departmental budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and develop action plans for variances.
- Competency and Development: Validate staff competency, maintain annual certifications, and provide ongoing training and educational opportunities that exceed industry standards.
- Operational Excellence: Prioritize daily tasks, complete reports on time, and lead special projects with precision and timeliness.
- Professional Engagement: Build networks within professional organizations, maintain continuing education credits, and participate in industry-leading initiatives.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure department adherence to accreditation standards (e.g., CAP, DNV), including validation testing, proficiency samples, quality control, and documentation.
- Safety and Communication: Promote a safe working environment and foster collaborative relationships with medical staff, incorporating professional communication techniques like SBAR.
- Community Focus: Address the needs of diverse internal and external patient populations through meaningful collaboration with physicians and community stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field (Required)
- Experience:
- 5–6 years of Cytology or Histology experience (Required)
- 2 years of supervisory experience (Preferred)
- Licenses/Certifications: Cytotechnologist (CT) OR Histotechnologist (HT) certification from the ASCP Board of Certification (Required upon hire)
