The Coordinator of Clinical Supply Strategy is responsible for supporting the strategic direction, operations, and formulary management of supply utilization across the Home Health and Hospice lines of business. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Clinical Operations Support Services, this position plays a key role in formulary decision-making, vendor partnerships, clinician education, and cost optimization. The Coordinator ensures patients receive timely, cost-effective, and clinically appropriate supplies while advancing Compassus' mission of delivering high-quality, efficient care.
Position Specific Responsibilities

Strategic Support
Interpret and apply CMS and payer coverage criteria to determine whether wound care, urological, or ostomy supplies meet "routine" versus "non-routine" definitions under PDGM or hospice per diem rules.
Conduct detailed clinical documentation reviews, including OASIS data, physician orders, and wound assessments, to ensure compliance and accurate coverage.
Analyze clinical data to ensure regulatory adherence and minimize billing or audit risks.
Provide guidance on payer guidelines to support appropriate utilization of supplies and services.
Coordinate enterprise-wide supply operations across Home Health and Hospice markets.
Collaborate with clinical, operational, and vendor stakeholders to ensure supply strategies align with enterprise goals and payer requirements.
Act as a resource and subject matter expert for branch and regional leadership.
Exercise independent judgment in evaluating new products, interpreting payer requirements, and recommending supply strategies.

Formulary and Product Management
Support decision-making for Home Health and Hospice medical supply formularies to ensure compliance, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with clinical best practices.
Evaluate new product requests in collaboration with wound care leadership and vendor partners.
Assist in implementing formulary changes by creating communication plans and providing education to stakeholders.

Education and Engagement
Provide clinical direction and education to licensed field staff regarding supply products used in patient care.
Develop and deliver clinician education on formulary utilization, supply coverage rules, and product innovations within regulatory frameworks.
Create job aids, quick tips, and training materials to promote consistent practices across both service lines.
Partner with wound care specialists to align product usage with clinical pathways and desired patient outcomes.

Operational and Financial Accountability
Support supply ordering workflows, fulfillment processes, and escalation resolutions to prevent service failures.
Monitor supply spend and track cost-per-episode (Home Health) and cost-per-patient-day (Hospice), developing corrective action plans with branch and regional leaders.
Address vendor-related issues such as out-of-stock, mis-shipped, or damaged items.
Approve weekly vendor payout amounts for Compassus accounting.
Manage new account requests, address changes, and program closures.
Coordinate vendor recalls and assist with tracking and reconciling missing items.
Review formulary alignment for leader approvals and identify abnormal order quantities.
Oversee Hospice-specific activities, such as Aspira drain orders, per-patient-day supply reporting, letters of affiliation, and managing new user access to supply platforms.

Compliance and Quality
Partner with Utilization Review and Compliance teams on audits, ADRs, and clinical documentation reviews, ensuring that interpretive clinical judgments are made by licensed professionals.
Evaluate new products and formulary changes for clinical appropriateness and adherence to CMS guidelines.
Ensure compliance with CMS guidelines and payer coverage requirements for both Home Health and Hospice supply utilization.
Collaborate with Compliance and Quality teams to identify risks and promote best practices in operational supply management.
Advocate for standardized supply usage across branches to reduce variability and improve care quality.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in healthcare operations, supply chain, or clinical program support.
Skills
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces integrated healthcare at home philosophy. Strong understanding of CMS rules, payer coverage, and reimbursement models (PDGM and Hospice per diem). Experience supporting vendor partnerships and product formulary standardization. Proficient communicator and educator with the ability to influence clinicians and leaders across disciplines. Proficiency with EMR platforms (Homecare Homebase preferred) and data analytics tools.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
Active, unencumbered nursing license (required).
Physical Demands and Work Environment: The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions.
