The Downtown Development Manager and Special Events and Marketing Manager will provide guidance, supervision, and support across all projects. Primary responsibilities will focus on planning for special events happening in the spring, downtown initiatives, and social media marketing. Additional tasks may include support on other departmental projects.Applicants should submit a cover letter & resume.
This is a paid internship expected to run from January 12 to May 8, 2026.
PHASES OF WORK
Student will attend an employee orientation on the first day
An initial overview of duties and expectations will be established with the supervisor on the first day.
Student will format schedule and work from an established timeline for completing the projects.
A final project evaluation will be given once the events are complete.
PROJECT DELIVERABLES
The intern will provide the supervisor with an anticipated schedule and timeline of work once given duties. The student will be expected to begin the internship in January and complete all assignments by May, in line with the spring semester.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS, DUTIES, ETC.
Candidate should have excellent customer service skills
Candidate should be a self-starter
Strong writing and oral communication skills required
Capable of working on multiple projects at once and prioritizing tasks.
Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
Must be comfortable speaking with new people in person, via telephone, and through e-mail communication
Skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
Facebook and Instagram experience are required
Marketing/Graphic Design skills are a plus
Photography and video editing experience and skills are a plus
Dependable transportation needed to complete the project
Some evening and weekend work will be required
Regular meetings with the supervisor during the internship
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, training and experience
Full-time student at an accredited Texas college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Students in the 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor’s program preferred.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class "C" Texas driver’s license required. Out-of-state license holders must have a valid license and provide a three-year driving history.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, vision, hearing, talking. Must be able to stand for extended periods and capable of moving or lifting up to 50 pounds.
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
EMPLOYMENT TESTING:
Employment is contingent on passing post-offer, pre-employment drug testing and criminal background investigation.
Hiring Range: $15.00, hourly.
