The Provider Contracting Senior Advisor – Transplant supports affordability and growth strategies for Cigna Healthcare’s LifeSOURCE Transplant Network, which includes more than 180 contracted facilities and represents approximately $1B in annual medical spend.
In this role, you will lead provider contracting and network management activities for transplant and advanced cellular therapy providers in the West region. You will partner with providers and internal teams to manage complex negotiations, control costs, and maintain high‑quality network access.
This is a hybrid position, requiring time working from home and time spent in the office and/or traveling to in‑person provider meetings.
Key Responsibilities
Affordability & Network Strategy
Drive unit cost targets while maintaining an adequate and competitive transplant network
Partner with Medical Economics to identify affordability opportunities using claims, financial, and market data
Monitor industry and competitive trends to inform contracting strategies
Collaborate with local market teams to support network adequacy and membership growth
Support innovative and alternative network initiatives
Contracting & Provider Management
Lead complex contract negotiations with transplant and advanced cellular therapy hospitals and physician groups
Negotiate rates, terms, and contract amendments for new and existing agreements
Develop contracts that meet operational requirements and provider expectations
Identify and onboard new providers to strengthen the LifeSOURCE network
Apply multiple reimbursement models, including case rates, DRG, fee‑for‑service, and value‑based arrangements
Monitor contractual and financial performance and mitigate provider risk
Cross‑Functional Partnership
Serve as the primary contact for internal partners across Markets, Product, Clinical, and Operations
Provide guidance on contract interpretation and implementation
Lead the resolution of escalated provider issues
Build strong, collaborative provider and internal relationships
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in commercial provider contracting and negotiations
Experience working with complex hospital systems or provider organizations
Strong financial, analytical, and negotiating skills
Ability to manage senior‑level provider relationships
Bachelor’s degree required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred
Experience with transplant or advanced cellular therapy (e.g., CAR‑T) contracting
Knowledge of managed care and payer operations
Familiarity with Cigna Healthcare operations
This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
