Responsibilities

  • 1. Prepares and modifies the daily shift schedules for the certified nursing assistants (CNAs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), registered nurses (RNs), supply coordinators, and receptionists to ensure adequate levels of staffing based on facility needs.
  • 2. Handles scheduling conflicts, callouts, last-minute adjustments, and shift changes as needed and informs management of critical staffing situations.
  • 3. Maintains accurate staff attendance records, and PTO, and raises concerns to management.
  • 4. Approves PTO requests according to policy and union contract.
  • 5. Maintains and completes daily and monthly schedule breakdowns of the nursing department.
  • 6. Coordinates and maintains the holiday rotation and on-call schedules.
  • 7. Fairly distributes and records over-time worked as outlined in the union contract to ensure accurate distribution of hours.
  • 8. Regularly communicates nursing schedules and any concerns with leadership.
  • 9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

High School diploma or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 1-year administrative experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is required. Experience in a rehabilitative or geriatric nursing setting is preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates good organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrates ability to maintain standards of care rendered at Grimes Center in accordance with the State of Connecticut Public Health Code, as it relates to the Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ).
