***INTRADEPARTMENTAL APPLICANTS ONLY*** CommentsThe Clinic Medical Laboratory Technician II is responsible for performing, analyzing, and releasing laboratory tests on specimens to ensure accurate and reliable results by adhering to established policies and procedures. Working under direct supervision, this role is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining complex instrumentation, prioritizing workload to meet turnaround times, and staying updated on competencies and regulatory standards. The Clinic Med Lab Technologist II plays a crucial role in delivering accurate and timely diagnostic information that supports patient care and treatment decisions. 

 

Responsibilities

 

***INTRADEPARTMENTAL APPLICANTS ONLY***Performs all processes associated with testing of laboratory specimens, ensuring prioritization of duties and workload meet established turnaround times while adhering to established policies and procedures.Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies and documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.Actively supports and complies with established laboratory protocols, regulatory standards, and quality control and assurance to ensure compliance with safety and quality guidelines.Practices efficient use of supplies and actively participates in inventory control to maintain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.Meets technical training requirements, completes required competencies and assigned proficiency testing by the due date and maintains knowledge of procedure changes.Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and utilizes available resources to troubleshoot, escalate, and document complicated and unresolved issues to appropriate designee.Communicates with and assists patients and staff in a professional and courteous manner by facilitating effective communication during shift transitions to ensure seamless continuum of care and reduce the risk of errors or omissions.Utilizes lab and facility systems to accurately document lab activity to include various worksheets, forms, task logs, and pending logs, according to established site protocols throughout the shift to ensure established turnaround times and high quality are met.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:Required: Associate degree in medical laboratory technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science

 

EXPERIENCE:Required: 1 year of working as a technician in a hospital or similar physician office laboratory

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: CommentsRequired:Certification or eligibility as Medical Laboratory Technician is required from ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) or Medical Laboratory Technician with AMT (American Medical Technologists). Certification must be completed within one year from date of hire.BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
