Role Summary
Lever is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy machine learning and AI-driven capabilities across our SaaS platform. This role will focus on applying modern AI techniques—such as natural language processing, recommendation systems, and predictive modeling—to enhance recruiting workflows, improve candidate experiences, and deliver actionable insights to customers.
You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Design teams to take AI solutions from concept to production at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models that power intelligent features across the Lever platform
- Build and maintain production-grade AI systems, including model training pipelines, inference services, and monitoring frameworks
- Apply NLP techniques to analyze resumes, job descriptions, candidate communications, and structured/unstructured hiring data
- Develop recommendation and ranking systems for candidates, jobs, and hiring actions
- Partner with Product and UX teams to translate business problems into AI-driven solutions
- Ensure AI solutions are scalable, reliable, secure, and aligned with ethical AI and fairness principles
- Continuously evaluate model performance, address bias, and improve accuracy using real-world feedback
- Document systems, models, and decision-making processes for internal and external stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience building and deploying machine learning models in production environments
- Strong proficiency in Python and common ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
- Hands-on experience with NLP techniques and libraries (e.g., spaCy, Hugging Face, transformers)
- Experience deploying AI systems in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering best practices
- Experience working with APIs, microservices, and CI/CD pipelines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on SaaS products or data-intensive platforms
- Familiarity with MLOps practices, including model monitoring and lifecycle management
- Knowledge of fairness, bias mitigation, and responsible AI practices
- Experience with search, ranking, or recommendation systems
- Exposure to HR tech, recruiting, or people analytics domains
