Job Title: Intensive Autism Technician   

Department: Damar North

Compensation: Hourly / Non-Exempt

Job Summary: The Intensive Autism Technician is responsible for performing a variety of duties, such as, natural environment training, skills-based treatment, data collection, and intensive autism intervention. The Intensive Autism Technician is responsible for providing direct support to individuals diagnosed with Autism who reside at Damar North. Assists the treatment team, including the Intensive Autism Manager, Intensive Autism Supervisor, and Director of Autism Services and other members as designated, in the evaluation of clinical services.

  • 2nd Shift (2p-10p)

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates confidence when making decisions in the moment regarding Skills Based Treatment.• Completes and updates mandatory training and other licensure related items in a timely manner.• Attends mandatory staff meeting and other meetings as assigned.• Attends meetings, conferences, and workshops as recommended by the Intensive Autism leadership team.• Provides direct services to children diagnosed with Autism, using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.• Participates in Behavior Skills Training (BST).• Assists during Practical Functional Assessments.• Ensures client medication administration daily in line with Core A/B certification and/or Medical Assistant certification. • Operates Damar vehicles and/or personal vehicles to transport clients or perform other work-related duties.• Completes incident reports, including reporting any suspected exploitation, abuse, or neglect of a client.• Serves as a member of Damar Services’ interdisciplinary team.• Prioritizes duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth.• Shows initiative by identifying solutions to work towards improving stakeholder satisfaction.• Acts as a good steward of Damar and/or client finances.• Seeks the best use of materials, equipment, and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.• Utilizes data collection in relation to driving and tracking outcomes and achieving agency initiatives and goals. • Ensures that the agency meets its quality improvement, evaluation, and reporting requirements. • Takes pride and ownership in Damar’s facilities and assigned work areas. • Adheres to all policies and procedures as defined in the Employee Handbook, ABA Policy and Procedure Manual and Damar Operational Policies and Procedures Manual.• Maintains neat, chronological documentation of all goals and behaviors.• Keep abreast of current treatment technology, literature, practices, and regulations.• Actively participates in and/or oversees data collection and the use of data to improve outcomes, practices and service delivery. • Maintains documentation that is accurate and legible.• Interacts professionally with parents, school, medical personnel, and others using only excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.• Implements and maintains skills provided in training across all clients being responsive, engaged, active, and loving towards clients. • Respects the culture, diversity and rights of all clients, their families, and the community.• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

Experience: ABA therapy experience and/or experience working with children with autism is preferred but not required.

 

Equipment Familiarity: Ability to use an iPad and computer.

 

Certifications, Licenses or Special Training: • Minimum age of 21 per licensure requirements.• No felony convictions or other criminal offenses involving a dependent population.• Must have or be able to obtain Therapeutic Crises Intervention (TCI) Certification. • Must have or be able to obtain 1st Aid/CPR Certification. • Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks. • Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving). • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and physical required. • 1st Shift and 2nd Shift must complete first attempt of the RBT Certification as outlined by Damar ABA policy within 60 days of 40-hour RBT training. Must obtain Registered Behavior Technician Certification as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board within 6 months of 40-hour RBT training. Must maintain RBT certification as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.• 3rd Shift and Weekend Shift must maintain skills provided in training by trainer and Intensive Autism Supervisor as well as taking consistent feedback regarding client plan and protocols. Must engage in ongoing training on autism spectrum disorder and ABA principles. Will not need/receive RBT certification.

 

Abilities: • Must be flexible and willing to work at any of the Damar facilities• Ability to follow and execute specific verbal and written instructions.• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.• Ability to promote and maintain positive interaction with all internal and external stakeholders.• Ability to physically manage when necessary, including ability to assist in lifting, maneuvering, and physically supporting individuals up to 200 pounds; ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
