Role Overview
COLUMBIA Class Non-Propulsion Plant Build Strategy Team (BST) Engineering Supervisors will provide direct leadership and oversight of a cross-functional team comprised of Engineers and matrixed oversight over Advance Planning, Detail Planning, Production Control Planning and Operations actions.
BST Engineering Supervisors are responsible for the coordination of the build strategy and integration of their assigned major ship construction zones as defined by the Manufacturing Assembly Plan (MAP). BST Engineering Supervisors interface with other teams, program management, and functional management on a continuous basis to ensure all issues are identified and resolved by engaging proper stakeholders.
BST Engineering Supervisors drive the engineering-led, area based, multi-functional Design Build team to perform systematic reviews of build strategy within the context of program requirements and oversight, which is a complex role, and are responsible for the following specific activities:
- Coordinate and provide guidance and oversight over Engineers’ model based and construction sequence focused reviews with the team to optimize the build to support end to end construction consumption.
- Oversee the development of the ideal build strategy and identify demands for the initiation and assistance with the resolution of WTPSCs and Problem Sheets, supporting construction key events to realize construction schedule or cost improvement in focused area of the ship.
- Coordinate and oversee the review and approval of rollover activity scopes upon completion of their teams’ review of the activity for all unissued work scope.
Future need for posted position is contingent on Build Strategy Team future tasking and potential exists that position may be temporary
Skills
- Familiarity with COLUMBIA Class
- Demonstrated experience developing innovative solutions to complex problems is highly desirable
- Candidates should be familiar with submarine arrangements, design-build-sustain (DBS), Design for Production (DfP), systems engineering, planning, construction and test processes
- Candidates must be highly motivated and have the ability to multi-task and work independently without significant oversight
- Problem solving, technical facilitation, and project management/planning skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-discipline cross-functional teams

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree or related technical degree
- Construction / build sequence experience
- 4+ years of experience in one of the following areas: design-build-sustain,engineering, design, planning, testing, or modular fabrication
- Experience in NX/Teamcenter functionality
- EB Site Travel is required (New London, Groton, Quonset Point)
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Industrial, Mechanical, Civil, Marine, Structural, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering
- Experience in Waterfront / Construction
