Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Surgical Technologist, you will be a central figure in the operating room team, meticulously preparing and maintaining the sterile field for surgical procedures and actively anticipating the needs of the surgical team. You will play a vital role in ensuring patient safety, preventing infection, and contributing to operational efficiency.Every day, you will expertly set up the sterile OR, meticulously organize instruments and supplies according to surgeon preference cards, and assist the surgical team during procedures. You will also manage sterile supply flow, perform accurate surgical counts, and ensure strict adherence to aseptic technique and all safety protocols from pre- to post-operative phases.To be successful in this role, you will combine exceptional attention to detail, a strong understanding of surgical instrumentation and sterile procedures, and the ability to perform effectively under pressure. You will demonstrate excellent communication, a proactive approach to anticipating needs, and a collaborative spirit, all dedicated to supporting positive patient outcomes and seamless surgical operations.

  • Coordinates in collaboration with the Nurse Manager and Director of Surgical Services orientation of all new Surgery Staff.
  • Leads efforts to improve processes and to monitor quality in surgical specialty.
  • Maintains accurate and timely preference cards for all surgeons in the specialty area.
  • Serves as a resource with a high level of knowledge and competence in the assigned area of surgical specialty. Maintains annual CME in area of specialty.
  • Monitors and orders surgery supplies as assigned. Assures that necessary supplies and equipment are available for scheduled cases and unscheduled cases.
  • Coordinates new product trials with the Nurse Manager, Business Specialist and Value Analysis Committee. Serves on the Value Analysis Committee.

Job Requirements

Minimum:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of experience as a scrub tech
  • American Heart Association BLS
  • Certified Surgical Technologist

Preferred:

  • Three years of current operating room experience in specialty
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience
  • Cerner experience
