Responsibilities

Principal Asset Management is hiring a Financial Analyst IV to join the net investment income forecast team. This is a great opportunity to learn more about investments and to partner with senior leadership to help tell the story around net investment income.

 

We’re looking for a self-starter who’s curious, analytical, and comfortable solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment. You’ll work on a mix of quarterly tasks and strategic projects, collaborating with various partners throughout the organization.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: using specialized knowledge and expertise to perform analysis on net investment income across Principal.
  • Management Reporting: delivering key, concise messages to stakeholders and being able to tell the story around net investment income. Ability to meet deadlines and deliver information around results and forecasted results.
  • Highly collaborative working with asset modeling team, portfolio management & several business unit senior leaders across Principal Financial Group.
  • Assist with various projects that help streamline and create efficient processes.
  • Assist with various modeling tasks and understand modeling tool outputs to understand forecasted net investment income

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in math, actuarial science, finance or related field with a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience preferred
  • Self motivated with excellent problem solving, leadership, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills required
  • Demonstrates the ability to embrace and understand the change process, and effectively guides others through change
  • Investment knowledge and financial planning and analysis experience preferred
  • A strong understanding of systems and technical skills required such as excel, SQL, and modeling software.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range

$86450 - $116850 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role is hiring in Des Moines, IA and offers in-office & hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) work arrangements.
