Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Manager of Imaging Services, the Supervisor of Diagnostic Radiology is responsible for the daily operations of the Diagnostic Radiology Department.
- This role ensures consistent delivery of high-quality imaging, staff scheduling and supervision, adherence to regulatory standards, and coordination with physicians, nursing, and ancillary departments to support patient care and workflow efficiency.
- Oversee daily operations within Diagnostic Radiology, including staff assignments, workflow, and equipment utilization.
- Supervise radiologic technologists, ensuring exams are performed safely, accurately, and in compliance with ACR, NJDEP, and Joint Commission standards.
- Monitor department productivity and support process improvements to optimize patient throughput and satisfaction.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, competency assessment, and performance evaluation for assigned staff.
- Maintain and communicate departmental policies and procedures, ensuring consistent adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Serve as a clinical and technical resource for technologists; troubleshoot and resolve operational and equipment issues.
- Collaborate with the Radiology Manager and Director to plan staffing schedules, manage PTO requests, and ensure adequate coverage across all shifts.
- Review image quality, documentation, and exam completion for accuracy within PACS and RIS systems.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and assist with capital equipment needs and service calls.
- Support education, training, and professional development of staff, students, and new hires.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards, infection control, and patient confidentiality.
- Act as departmental liaison during off-hour or weekend operations as assigned.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Manager or Director of Imaging Services.
