Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Manager of Imaging Services, the Supervisor of Diagnostic Radiology is responsible for the daily operations of the Diagnostic Radiology Department.
  • This role ensures consistent delivery of high-quality imaging, staff scheduling and supervision, adherence to regulatory standards, and coordination with physicians, nursing, and ancillary departments to support patient care and workflow efficiency.
  • Oversee daily operations within Diagnostic Radiology, including staff assignments, workflow, and equipment utilization.
  • Supervise radiologic technologists, ensuring exams are performed safely, accurately, and in compliance with ACR, NJDEP, and Joint Commission standards.
  • Monitor department productivity and support process improvements to optimize patient throughput and satisfaction.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, competency assessment, and performance evaluation for assigned staff.
  • Maintain and communicate departmental policies and procedures, ensuring consistent adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Serve as a clinical and technical resource for technologists; troubleshoot and resolve operational and equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with the Radiology Manager and Director to plan staffing schedules, manage PTO requests, and ensure adequate coverage across all shifts.
  • Review image quality, documentation, and exam completion for accuracy within PACS and RIS systems.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and assist with capital equipment needs and service calls.
  • Support education, training, and professional development of staff, students, and new hires.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards, infection control, and patient confidentiality.
  • Act as departmental liaison during off-hour or weekend operations as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Manager or Director of Imaging Services.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:  

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program.
  • NJ RT license, ARRT certification, and CPR.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

  • Must be available for on-call and holidays.

 

 

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
