Overview

The Biomedical Equipment Technician will serve as a staff advisor to the Manager of Clinical Engineering as well asprovide engineering principles and practices, which relate to the area of specialization and the scientific discipline inHospital and Clinical settings. The Engineer should be able to draw from professional education, background as wellas practical experience. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities

 Assists in the administration of the Medical Equipment Management Program at Central Health Manages equipment recall and safety alert programs for medical devices, including medical device incidentinvestigations to ensure compliance with patient safety goals, ISO 14155 international Standard thataddress clinical practices for the reporting of clinical investigations carried out on behalf of Human subjectssuch as our “Patients” to assess the safety and performance of any medical devices for regulatory purposesthat are associated with Central Health guidelines for clinical quality management as applicable to JointCommission requirements. Ensures that requirements of The Joint Commission, FDA and other regulatory groups are met for theMedical Equipment Management Program at Central Health. Provides leadership to ensure that high-performance customer support is provided to medical staff, nurses,and technologists. Shares responsibility of representing Central Health in meetings with manufacturers, vendors and theirengineers in matters involving medical devices and systems. Advises the Manager and Director of Central Health, and the Medical Center Equipment SelectionCommittee on equipment evaluations. Provides accurate, balanced advice to management regarding decisions to be made for new acquisitions. Assists in providing project management for the purchase, planning, construction design review,installation, integration and in-service training stages of medical device projects and complex medicalcomputer systems. Shares responsibility in ensuring that HIPAA and network security issues are managed effectively formedical systems. This includes but is not limited to backup, disaster recovery, security, virus protection,system patching and software O/S updates. Provides training and personal technical support to the staff in order to resolve systems problems. Provides support to the medical staff to help resolve equipment related problems.

Qualifications

High School Diploma orequivalent (higher degreeaccepted)and or technicalDiploma/certification fromaccelerated institute.RequiredBachelor's Degree (higherdegree accepted)of Science in BiomedicalEngineering, ClinicalEngineering or relatedfield.RequiredWork ExperienceExperienceExperience Details Required/PreferredAnd / Or5 yearsof experience as a Clinical/Biomed Engineer orBiomedical Equipment Technician working in a Hospital& Clinic Enterprise.Required
