Overview

Perform duties such as maintenance, repair and installation of commercial and domestic plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a member of the Fire Brigade; shall respond to fire drills and other emergencies as designated to ensure the safety of patients, employees and the continuous operation of the facility.
  • Will independently undertake maintenance (including cleaning), repair and installation of all types of commercial and domestic plumbing systems.
  • Must troubleshoot all plumbing systems. 
  • Make rounds as assigned by the supervisor, or lead plumber and report his/her/their findings to the supervisor or lead plumber. May make adjustments to plumbing systems.
  • May be required to perform supervised duties on systems relating to heating and air conditioning piping.
  • Performs equipment preventive maintenance.
  • May be required to perform all duties of a plumber.
  • Must read blue prints and specifications.
  • Will install any new plumbing system or parts thereeof. Install minor plumbing system in-house projects.
  • Replace broken sewer and water line.Address minor and major sewer blockage and back-up.
  • May be required to assist or perform any duty of a maintenance mechanic or worker.
  • May be required to assist or perform general maintenance tasks related to other departmental shops or tasks necessary to maintain normal, consistent opeation of equipment, and spaces coming under the jurisdiction of the Engineering Department.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years experience in maintenance, repair and installation of commercial and domestic plumbing systems.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Basic ability to fully utilize OBH's electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.

Licenses, Certifications:

  • G-71 Medical Gases is required within (6) months of hire.
  • G-17 Bulk Oxygen Certificate of Fitness preferred.
  • G-60 Torch Use of Flammable Gases

Physical Requirements:

  • Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day. 
  • Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
