Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Secretary, you will be a vital caregiver and the central hub, assuming responsibility for patient care processes from newborn to geriatric for a designated time frame. You will directly contribute to safe, therapeutic patient care while serving as the primary receptionist and secretary.Every day you will support safe patient care through multidisciplinary processes and coordinating unit activities. You will efficiently manage information flow and assist healthcare team members in delivering care across all patient age groups.

 

This position is responsible for handling written and telephone communications with the department, in order to assist the Director/Supervisors in monitoring departmental budgets and activities. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, a proactive approach to managing day-to-day operations, and a commitment to providing safe, therapeutic care while working effectively with the entire healthcare team.

  • Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform tasks and procedures according to Medical Center policy and procedure. Including, but not limited to:
  • Demonstrates secretarial skills and knowledge to support functions of the department. (bag cleaning).
  • Maintains the patient's Medical Record and computer file, relative to POT and Physician Order creation.
  • Responsible for customer phone service to properly allocate calls to staff for assistance and works with liaisons via phone to facilitate patient referrals.
  • Maintains the office environment. Maintains adequate patient supplies and equipment and responsible for patient charge process for supplies into computer system.
  • Assembles temporary patient charts.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate General Studies
  • Six (6) months' to three (3) years' secretarial experience
  • Ability to work and communicate with diverse groups of people.

  • Requires knowledge of clerical skills, spelling, Medical Terminology, punctuation, English grammar and general office routine.

  • Type 45 wpm.

  • Must have Windows experience.

Preferred

  • College level courses inwriting/communications preferred.
