Position Overview
The Emerus RN Residency Program is a year-long program designed to give you hands-on practice to promote the use of classroom education and help establish relevant clinical experience. The objective of this paid residency program is to help graduating Nurses transition into their first professional Nursing role by offering a supportive community of experienced Nurses and nurse educators that support learning, clinical exposure, and application to guide you through the transition from student Nurse to Registered Nurse. Emerus will provide you with the tools, clinical curriculum and education, and day to day guidance, to include support in these areas:
- Expand, develop, and measure your nursing skills via face-to-face instruction, online courses, and simulations.
- Pair you with a trained Preceptor to achieve skills progression and competencies.
- Provide professional development activities focused on your transition from that of a student to a professional.
Essential Job Functions
As an Emerus RN Resident, you will coordinate and provide high quality, patient-centered care specific to each patient’s situation and needs, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state. The RN Resident serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers to support an unparalleled patient experience.
- Plan, prioritize and provide proficient, age-specific and developmentally/specialty appropriate nursing care by applying advanced specialty clinical nursing knowledge and skills and for ensuring the comfort and safety of patients/families
- Follow practitioner’s orders in the delivery of nursing care
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times
- Adhere to required infection control, isolation procedures and aseptic techniques in the delivery of patient care
- Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with established policies and procedures, as well as COLA and CLIA regulations
- Perform admission, discharge and transfer procedures
- Assemble equipment and supplies for various diagnostic or treatment procedures in the specialty service area; perform or assist others with procedures or treatments
- Handle care in accordance with legal, hospital/facility, departmental policies and procedures, and established standards of nursing care and practice, as defined by the Board of Nursing for that State.
- Ability to recognize critical findings and timely communicate changes in the patient’s condition to the appropriate patient care providers.
- Adapts to a rapidly changing work environment.
- Can interpret reports, data, observations/assessments, and medical information to determine the needs of the patient and family.
Other Job Functions
- Signed 2-year commitment agreement (begins on the 1st day of the Nurse Residency Program start date)
- Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communication
- Travel required within assigned market, as needed
- No previous RN experience required
- Successful completion of Jane Assessment
Basic Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Nursing with a GPA of 3.0 or higher from an accredited nursing program
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse without sanctions, required.
- Before the residency begins, proof of successful completion of the NCLEX
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained prior to start of the program
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 90 days of employment
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) obtained within 90 days of employment, as applicable; ENPC certification from ENA may be substituted for PALS certification.
