The D476 Quonset Point Waterfront Engineering group is expanding its second shift team. An Engineering Supervisor position is available to lead this team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the COLUMBIA Class Second Shift Construction Support Integration Engineering Team within D476, which will consist of 4-8 engineers working in the Quonset Point Shipyard. The group is responsible providing comprehensive multi-discipline deckplate engineering support of construction activities by interfacing with cognizant Design and Engineering, Operations, Materials and Planning personnel to ensure quality technical products are issued in a timely manner supporting construction schedules.
The supervisor will work closely with Quonset Point Operations management to provide immediate engineering support for emergent shipyard problems and construction evolutions. The successful candidate will be required to coordinate actions amongst various organizations to ensure continuity of construction efforts. This includes the resolution and trouble-shooting of second shift construction issues, integration with second shift Quonset Point operations and support groups, and liaison support between second shift operations and various stakeholders. Candidates will be required develop and oversee a team to provide technical leadership regarding second shift operations, disposition/review engineering reports, address design issues, provide UNSAT responses, ensure timely resolution, and work independently.
Candidates will engage with operations, ship’s management, program office, quality assurance, support groups, QP test, and planning. Candidates will communicate assessments to operations, provide technical advice/guidance, and perform or assist with various projects.
The candidate will be required to balance multiple competing priorities while maintaining focus on personnel development and product quality, cost, and schedule performance requirements.
