The Opportunity
This position is be located in Abbott Park, IL.
The Senior Analyst, Global Trade Compliance is part of the Global Trade Compliance (GTC) team, a corporate function providing customs and trade compliance governance and strategic planning support for Abbott’s global import/export operations.
The Senior Analyst will work with OUS affiliates to gather accurate trade data and provide targeted analysis and trends of the data to mitigate tariff impact, identify areas of potential risk and opportunity, and support affiliate’s special trade programs. The Senior Analyst is responsible for evaluating global affiliate compliance against relevant corporate policies/procedures; auditing, with both internal and external programs, to identify risk areas and close gaps; formulating recommendations to improve operating performance and controls; ensuring proper and timely corrective actions are implemented; and establish/strengthen internal controls requirements as identified.
Knowledge, Experience and Education:
Education: Bachelor's degree Years of experience, both overall and any industry-specific experience needed: minimum of 5+ years’ experience in international trade, customs/trade compliance, or other related field Other qualifications/certifications: Experience in technical research, tariff classification, special trade programs, and tariff mitigation required. High attention to detail, resourcefulness (ability to leverage data from multiple sources), and self-motivation are essential.
Major Accountabilities
30% Manage internal and external affiliate audit programs to assess effectiveness of OUS affiliate’s compliance programs. For affiliates outside the audit pool, develop and conduct a targeted transactional testing program, including SOP reviews, AEO evaluation, STP tracking, etc., to establish compliance and identify any gaps. Ensure the proper and timely corrective actions are implemented by the affiliate and create effective ongoing monitoring to ensure corrective measures are successful.
20% Leverage Abbott’s “big data” from a trade analytics standpoint to mitigate tariffs, drive duty optimization projects, identify risks/exposure, and utilize special trade programs, liaising with OUS affiliates and master data teams as appropriate.
20% Provide ad hoc project support for the Senior Managers, Global Customs Planning & Strategy; as well as the Senior Director and other GTC team members as needed.
10% Maintain databases, such as Affiliate Trade Profiles, the Risk Monitoring Tool, Free Trade Agreement Tracker, and Valuation Adjustment Tracker to ensure accurate and timely updates for use in tariff mitigation and risk targeting.
10% Provide guidance to affiliates on OUS import/export requirements, tariff classification, customs valuation and country of origin determination.
10% Develop and deliver targeted training in various mediums (virtual, self-paced, in-person) to assist OUS affiliates with their compliance programs.
Principle Challenges:
The primary role is to manage audit programs and assist OUS affiliates with developing and executing effective corrective actions. This role must seek to understand current processes along with associated gaps and effectively address those gaps through targeted action and follow-up.
Decision Making Authority:
This position will have several priorities, so time management will be essential. This position would be expected to, for example, determine if a special trade program had been applied correctly by an affiliate within Abbott’s predetermined, published policies, and responsible for developing any changes required to fulfill those policies.

The base pay for this position is
$75,300.00 – $150,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
