The Assistant Nurse Manager for Union Physician Services plays a critical role in supporting the realignment of leadership responsibilities, ensuring adequate oversight across all locations, and maintaining safe, efficient daily operations. This role will strengthen operational alignment, enhance staff support, and improve workflow management within the ambulatory setting. Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include creating schedules, recruiting, creating visual management boards, rounding, training, and managing teams in different practice locations. Your goals will be to ensure a high reliability practice and safely care for patients.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized and experienced nurse leader who is easily able to adapt to different environments. This role requires exceptional clinical judgment, strong leadership and communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The Assistant Nurse Manager will oversee the daily operations of varying ambulatory practices, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, quality care, and team collaboration.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 5:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Oversee nursing personnel and patient care providers in the clinical setting.
Coordinate activities to ensure quality and safe patient care.
Anticipate and resolve patient care and personnel issues.
In conjunction with the clinical manager, ensure maintenance of annual staff competencies and continuing education.
Perform duties of the RN Ambulatory as needed.
Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care.
Participate and/or coordinate committees, task forces and continuous improvement activities.
Participate in department leadership meetings.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and patient safety initiatives.
Assume responsibilities of the clinical manager as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
Two years of recent RN experience
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Supervisory experience
Ambulatory nursing experience
Leadership experience in an ambulatory environment
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
May requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
