Qualifications
High School Diploma required

Work Experience
1 year relevant data entry experience in healthcare related field required
1 year chart analysis, chart auditing or chart abstraction preferred

Essential Functions
CHARGE ENTRY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Abstract clinical documentation from patient's medical record for purposes of capturing charges.
Perform concurrent review of hospital bills to document unbilled, under billed and overbilled items/services, Communicates identified issues with clinical staff and leadership.
Provide education to clinical staff for proper documentation and charge capture.
Assign accurate payment reimbursement on designated accounts.
Request service code(s) from the Charge master Analyst for chargeable items without a service code.
Illustrates accuracy and consistency through Quality Review results of all audit documentation.
Provides consistent input into monthly observations and executive summary reports.
Illustrates creative problem solving skills through documentation of process improvement reporting and/or internal reporting mechanisms. Illustrates proficiency in the use of all internal software applications.

Additional Duties
Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.
Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs).
Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.

For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
