As a Health Scientist, you will be responsible for the coordination of research projects such as IRB (Institutional Review Board) Operation, working with clinicians at all levels to further scholarly activity. You will ensure residents are up to date with  
requirements, prepare lectures and promote collaborative research activities between specified departments and other programs throughout the Cleveland Clinic Akron General. This is a small department with a great team dynamic and rewarding work completed each day.  

 

A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 8:00AM – 4:30PM. Following the first 90 day on-site period, this caregiver may work a hybrid schedule consisting of 3 days on-site and 2 days remote. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

 

  • Oversee and/or assist investigators in all aspects of conducting research projects, including project development, implementation, data analysis and interpretation. 

  • Oversee and/or assist with the preparation and submission of abstracts, manuscripts, reports or other publishable scientific works, as well as tracking all submissions in Sedona. 

  • Develop educational materials for attending physicians and resident staff related research methodology, statistics and evaluating medical literature. 

  • Participate in specified department journal clubs and research meetings and present didactics on research methodology. 

  • Participate actively in Collaborative Research Committee and Research Oversight Committee and assist in development of research policies and educational materials for respective residency research/scholarly activity program. 

  • Develop and participate in collaborative working relationships with medical staff, other CCAG departments/personnel or outside organizations. 

  • Assist with the preparation of grant applications for hospital-based research projects and programs. 

  • Perform job assignments and work on special projects. 

  • Participate in appropriate professional organizations, department and hospital committees and stay current in literature pertaining to areas of research. 

  • Manage department-specific resident research rotations including meeting with all residents, educating residents on the research process and assisting residents in the development of all research projects and meeting research requirements of training program. 

  • Work closely with specified program Research/Program Directors to maintain lines of communication pertaining to resident research activity. 

  • Supervise research associates, assistants, residents and students in research endeavors from inception to completion of project within specified departments. 

  • Design and implement experiments to pursue original research. 

  • Be involved in resident recruitment as requested by specified programs to discuss institutional research program. 

  • Complete mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. 

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Master's Degree in Physiology, Biology or other health-related field 

  • Two to three years of related experience required if Master’s prepared 

  • Experience with SPSS or other data analysis package 

  • Ability to independently initiate and carry out original biomedical research 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Computer skills including MS Office, Word and Excel 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities to meet deadlines with strong organizational skills and detail-oriented approach 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • PhD in a related field 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

  • Ability to distinguish color
