Summary

Assess, plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate services and activities of the inpatient pharmacy, day shift in collaboration with Pharmacy Operation Manager. Supervises assigned staff pharmacists and support personnel to include training, scheduling, performance evaluation input, and participation in the selection and hiring process. Supports and integrates quality assessment and quality improvement into daily work activities of teams. Functions without supervision, utilizes independent and collaborative judgment in decision-making, and demonstrates leadership and problem-solving skills. Assures complete customer satisfaction while meeting customer’s needs. Routinely serves in staff related or distributive roles.

Education and Formal Training:

Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy required. Doctor of Pharmacy or master’s degree in healthcare or job-related area preferred. Current valid license in the State of North Carolina as a pharmacist is required.

Work Experience:

One-year inpatient hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

High-level of interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, team members, physicians, and other personnel with whom daily interaction must take place.  Ability to think critically, prioritize tasks and responsibilities as well as effective problem/conflict resolution. Demonstrate traits of initiative and dependability required. Ability to manage and supervise personnel in fair manner and coordinate services efficiently. Perform basic computer word processing and spreadsheet skills.

Physical Requirements:

Reading comprehension and visual skills sufficient to accurately see and interpret physician orders and enter appropriate information into pharmacy computer as well as manual dexterity for order entry. Hearing ability is sufficient to communicate effectively in person and/or telephone. Has the ability to move through the Department to assess operations; and the ability to reach high places and stoop low for inventory maintenance purposes as well as move moderately heavy objects.
