Summary

The Director of Integrated Clinical Operations provides strategic, operational, and leadership oversight across both inpatient hospital departments and outpatient/clinic settings. This role ensures seamless coordination of care, operational consistency, patient-centered service delivery, and performance excellence across the full continuum of care. The Director partners closely with hospital leadership, medical group leadership, physician partners, and corporate support teams to drive quality outcomes, operational efficiency, financial stewardship, and an exceptional patient experience.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership for integrated inpatient and outpatient operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate operational plans, workflows, and performance metrics that optimize patient flow, access, staffing, and resource utilization across settings.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to reduce care fragmentation and improve coordination, including transitions-of-care processes and shared service workflows.
  • Partner with nursing leadership, physician leaders, and quality teams to drive excellence in clinical outcomes, regulatory compliance, and patient safety.
  • Monitor key quality indicators for both inpatient and ambulatory care, identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Champion a culture of patient-centered care, ensuring service consistency and high satisfaction across all sites.
  • Monitor revenue cycle performance, access metrics, throughput, length of stay, and clinic efficiency; implement improvement strategies as needed.
  • Evaluate business operations for cost-effective practices and recommend strategic investments to support growth and sustainability.
  • Serve as a key operational partner to employed and independent physicians, advanced practice providers, and medical staff leadership.
  • Drive initiatives to optimize patient access, scheduling efficiency, inpatient throughput, discharge coordination, and continuity of care.
  • Lead performance improvement projects to reduce delays, improve wait times, enhance communication, and streamline operational processes.
  • Oversee operational readiness for new programs, service lines, clinic expansions, and facility projects.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements; maintain readiness for regulatory surveys.
  • Standardize policies, procedures, and operational guidelines across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job.

Education and Formal Training:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business or related field required
  • Master’s degree (MHA, MBA, MSN, or related) preferred

Work Experience:

  • 7 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, with exposure to both inpatient and outpatient/ambulatory settings required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:  

  • Proven success in leading multidisciplinary teams, improving operational performance, and managing complex workflows.
  • Strong understanding of hospital operations, ambulatory workflows, revenue cycle, staffing models, and clinical care processes.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical ability with experience in performance metrics, dashboards, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Demonstrated competence in project management, change management, and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to navigate a complex health system and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Physical Requirements:

  • Mostly sedentary work.
  • Must have good visual and hearing acuity.
