Job Summary and Responsibilities

All employees are expected to perform their duties in alignment with the vision and values of the organization.The Acute Care Services Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a registered nurse with advanced knowledge andclinical expertise in acute care nursing, specifically within telemetry and medical surgical departments. Thisindividual is responsible for a variety of tasks that lead to a high level of patient and family satisfaction in a costeffectivemanner, while adhering to evidence based practice. The CNS assesses the needs of patients and theirfamilies within Acute Care Services, assists in the planning, execution, and evaluation of nursing care, andensures the implementation of coordinated and effective care programs for telemetry and medical surgicalpatients. This person is an expert practitioner whose goal is to realize optimum quality nursing practice throughdirect patient care, clinical staff development, consultation, and research. The CNS also facilitates policy writingand conducts competency assessments.

Job Requirements

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Current License as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. 
  • Masters of Sciaence in Nursing
  •  

Preferred Requirements:

  • Theoretical & Practical expertise in Nursing Education and Policy preferred.
  • Current Clinical Nurse Specialist Core (CNS-BC) certification
