Overview

The Symptom Management program at Dana-Farber seeks to re-engineer how Dana-Farber provides care for the side effects of cancer treatment across clinical practice locations. The Program Manager, Symptom Management will lead program strategy and governance and execute deliverables that improve how doctors and nurses work. Reporting to the Senior Director, New Product Development, the Program Manager will be versed in clinical operations and technology solution development and will be an integral player in meaningfully improving patient care at Dana-Farber and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Leads strategic planning and governance for Symptom Management, setting goals/priorities, aligning with institutional initiatives and DFCI values, establishing committees/change management, and planning risk, timelines, milestones, and go-live.
  • Oversees a multi-project portfolio end-to-end—from initiation through post-live—coordinating interrelated tasks, allocating resources, managing schedules, and conducting QA/testing (questionnaires, training, analytics, dashboards) to deliver clinical interventions and improve patient outcomes via patient-reported data.
  • Serves as primary point of contact and collaborator with cross-functional stakeholders (COBA, IS, MGB eCare, nursing, research), maintaining operating structures across workstreams (Advanced/Operational Analytics, Innovation, Build, Implementation).
  • Provides transparent reporting and communication to senior leadership (status, issues, decisions, timelines), maintains project portfolios and impact lists, and creates communication artifacts (presentations, websites, materials).
  • Exercises fiscal and people leadership: ensures budget adherence and financial reporting; assigns and guides work of PMs/teams; mentors and onboards staff; fosters trust, collaboration, and accountability; performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, healthcare, or a related field required.
  • Nine (9) years of relevant experience with progressively increasing responsibility of which at least six (6) years must be in project management OR comparable roles.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred.

  • Extensive experience in project management, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects successfully.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on strategic thinking and innovation.
  • Proficiency in project management software and templates, with a strong understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.

 

Pay Transparency Statement

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.

 

For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)

 

$117,978 - $124,180
