Overview

 

The Director Portfolio – EPMO is a senior leader within the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office responsible for driving strategic alignment, portfolio governance, and enterprise prioritization to ensure the right work is initiated and resourced. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Transformation Management Office within the Office of Strategic Advancement, the Director Portfolio EPMO partners in a dyad relationship with the Program Director to bridge strategy and execution across the enterprise. This role serves as the central point of accountability for evaluating proposed initiatives, managing the portfolio lifecycle and enabling informed investment decisions. The role collaborates closely with executive leadership, Finance, Strategy, Operations, IT, and clinical stakeholders to optimize resource allocation, balance risk, and deliver enterprise value through a strategically aligned portfolio of programs and projects.

Responsibilities

 

 

Portfolio Governance & Strategic Alignment• Lead the enterprise-wide portfolio intake, phase-gate, and prioritization processes to ensure strategic alignment and timely decision-making.• Optimize the portfolio to maximize value, balance risk, and manage interdependencies across programs.• Establish, maintain, and enhance portfolio performance reporting and dashboards to support governance forums.Resource Management & Planning• Oversee resource capacity planning across the enterprise portfolio to align with priorities and constraints.• Partner with functional and operational leaders to ensure adequate resource availabilityand conflict resolution.Leadership & Change Enablement• Provide direct leadership and mentorship to Portfolio Managers and Analysts within the EPMO.• Drive adoption of portfolio management best practices through organizational change management principles.• Hold stakeholders accountable to follow governance processes and reinforce adherence through effective engagement and influence.Stakeholder Engagement & Communication• Advocate for portfolio management as a strategic discipline and educate executive stakeholders on its role in driving enterprise value.• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and alignment on investment decisions.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Qualifications

 

EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, healthcare administration, or related field of study.Preferred: Master’s degree, preferred in business, engineering, healthcare administration, or related field of study..

 

EXPERIENCE:Required:7 years of overall work experience in a healthcare environment or business leadership role, with at least 5 years of experience in a portfolio management role5+ years of experience championing organizational change and transformation, e.g., leading initiatives, products, services, or interactionsProven ability to develop processes to drive enterprise valueProven ability to coordinate disparate program and project demands for prioritization and delivery

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or Agile Scrum Master CertificationPreferred: Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP) Certification, Agile Product Owner Certification, Lean Certification, Six Sigma Certification
