Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Histotechnologist, you will be responsible for performing complex histological clinical laboratory procedures on patient specimens under the direction of the Histotechnologist Lead, Medical Director, and Director of Laboratory Services.

Daily, you will accurately process, analyze, and report all ordered tests in a timely manner for patient diagnosis and treatment. This includes equipment calibration and meticulous documentation. You will organize your workload, maintain professional and safe conduct, and foster positive relationships with staff, departments, physicians, and peers.

Success in this role requires exceptional technical proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy and patient safety, strong organizational skills, and collaborative work within a complex laboratory environment.

Job Requirements

Required Education:

  • Opt 1: Bachelor Degree with a combination of 30 semester hrs of biology and chemistry (must include both), AND successful completion of an accredited Histotechnology program.

    Opt 2: Bachelor Degree with a combination of 30 semester hrs of biology and chemistry (must include both), AND one year full time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory within the last 5 years including fixation, embedding, microtomy, processing and staining.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize duties. Knowledgeable im the areas of pathology management, education, and regulations that impact the field of histology

Preferred

 

  • Bachelor degree and successful completion of an accredited Histotechnology program, AND/OR Histotechnology certification, HTL, by American Society of Clinical Pathology
