Job Description

 

Join UChicago Medicine as a Full-Time Lead Film Clerk Coordinator in the Imaging Department. 

 

Under general supervision from the Manager, Patient Access and Amenity Services, acts as a resource person to the Film File Coordinators. Communicate with Manager problems andconcerns, suggesting and implementing alternative workflows. The job involves extensive utilization of hospital systems and constant interaction with patients, physicians and other members of the Hospitals staff.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure staff member are in place and the designated times prepared to work.
  • Follow guidelines for staffing set forth by department protocol and works directly with manager to achieve.
  • Works directly with Film File Coordinators assigning work and ensures work is done in a timely manner with optimal quality achieved.
  • Ensure film library staff follows up appropriately on unreported exams. Ensures area is cleaned appropriately before and after each shift maintains a fair and balanced work flow for all team members.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the Film Library.
  • Researches appropriate work flow enhancement to ensure quality customer service.
  • Communicates update to staff and trains as necessary. Follow up on employee concerns with.
  • Works with manager to develops in service programs for area
  • Assists in the resolution of patient and physician complaints
  • Order supplies related to clerical activities
  • Utilizes a wide variety of computer systems effectively
  • Establishes a customer service orientation and ensures that clerical staff interactions with both patients and physicians are handled satisfactorily.
  • Performs other duties as requested by management
  • Perform any and all duties of other members of the clerical team

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent: college degree desirable, but not required.
  • Six months medical records or radiology filing experience
  • Considerable knowledge of numeric filing systems, i.e., the terminal digit system
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Professional telephone skills 
  • Diplomacy, courtesy, and excellent customer service skills are
