Job Summary and Responsibilities

This role is for a compassionate and autonomous Interventional Radiology RN responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care, from initial assessment to post-procedure monitoring, during interventional radiology procedures. The position requires strong clinical and critical thinking skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to patient education and safety within CHI Health's mission.

 

  • Patient Care & Procedure Support: Provide safe care for patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures (diagnostics, biopsies, embolizations, drain placements). This includes administering and monitoring moderate sedation, assisting with airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and managing critical care infusions. Respond to emergencies and assist with inpatient triage and procedural flow to ensure efficiency.
  • Nursing Process: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a designated group of healthcare consumers, encompassing their spiritual, physiological, social, and psychological needs. Document all phases of the nursing process.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with physicians and nurses to create individualized care plans. Administer medications and treatments. Foster a supportive environment for patients and families, providing education on healthcare processes.

Job Requirements

  • Licensure & Education: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state, graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Experience: One year of RN experience required (18 months preferred). Highly preferred experience in IR, Cath Lab, ICU, or PACU with expertise in hemodynamic monitoring, advanced airways, critical care drips, IV pressors, and ACLS-related drugs.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Specialty certifications (e.g., CCRN, CNOR, CEN) and additional licensure may be required for specific areas (preferred).
  • Skills: Top-notch clinical skills, caring attitude, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, excellent verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal skills, and effective patient/family education.
