Join UChicago Medicine, as a Staff Nurse on the Pediatric Critical Care Float Team. As a Staff Nurse on the Pediatric Critical Care Float Team, you will regularly float between our pediatric critical care units in Comer Children's Hospital, including PICU, NICU, and Comer 5th (General Pediatrics/Pediatric Neurology and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit) and Comer 6N (Pediatric Heme/Onc), Comer 6S (Pediatric Surgical Unit).

  

UChicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital located in Hyde Park, is a state-of-the-art 172-bed hospital dedicated to caring for infants, children, teens and young adults. Offering a range of services from general care to groundbreaking treatments for the most complex medical conditions, Comer Children's is home to the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center on Chicago's South Side. 

  

A Staff Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) who manages patient centered care that is outcome directed. Patient centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care provided. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision. 

  

Required Qualifications:

 

• Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing. 

• Associate of Science in Nursing or higher 
  • • Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program. 

• Current Illinois RN license 

• Active BLS Certification through The American Heart Association 

  

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• One year of Critical Care Pediatric Nursing experience 

• ACLS, PALS and/or NRP certifications 

• RN experience in a Level 1 Trauma Hospital 

• Float RN experience 

• NICU or PICU experience  

 

Position Details:

 

• Full-Time (0.9 FTE) 

• Day shift, 7am-7pm, Every Other Weekend Required
