Companion Animal Hospital of Oak Park is seeking an experienced Lead Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team!
At Companion Animal Hospital Oak Park, we provide gold standard veterinary care for the pets of Oak Park, River Forest, Elmwood Park, River Grove, and surrounding areas throughout Chicago, IL.
Our hospital is a full-service AAHA Accredited small animal general practice specializing in dogs and cats. We provide a complete spectrum of veterinary services using Fear Free techniques including dental care, wellness exams, dermatology, surgery, cat boarding, dog grooming, and more!
Companion Animal Hospital in Oak Park is also proud to serve Oak Park and surrounding neighborhoods with gentle, compassionate care. Several of our staff members are Fear Free Certified and offer our patients a low-stress experience during their visit. Additionally, our team is honored and proud to dedicate our time to helping those in need. By supporting our community animal shelters, we help not only care for animal rescues and shelter animals’ immediate health needs but prepare them for future loving homes. Consequently, we’ve partnered with 7 local nonprofit organizations, and hope to grow the list with more partners soon!

Compensation: $25-$27/hr based on experience

Job Summary: The Lead Certified Veterinary Technician (Lead CVT) trains, supervises, and assists veterinary support staff to plan, coordinate, and perform a variety of duties concerned with animal health and client education, and to promote greater efficiency by relieving veterinarians of technical work and administrative detail. This position also encompasses all the duties of the Veterinary Technician.
The Lead Certified Veterinary Technician (LCVT) provides skilled medical care under the direction of a veterinarian while supporting hospital operations through oversight of the technical team. This role serves as a point of contact for medical support staff, helping to ensure high-quality patient care, efficient workflows, and consistent application of protocols. The LCVT provides mentorship, guidance, and technical leadership to other team members while fostering a collaborative and supportive hospital culture.
Note: The Certified Veterinary Technician title is used in the following states based on state-specific licensing and credentialing requirements: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., Wisconsin, and Utah. Responsibilities may vary depending on the hospital and/or state. Responsibilities will be outlined by the state’s Veterinary Practice Act and/or the responsible veterinarian, where applicable.
