Position Overview:
The Supply Chain (SC) Specialist is responsible for developing and leading sourcing activities for assigned projects and initiatives. The role will drive strategic direction, ensuring cross-functional alignment within the Motiva structure. This is an individual contributor role in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and will report to the SC Team Lead.
Responsibilities:
Work with internal stakeholders, external third parties, and the SC team to continuously improve value delivery through the Motiva SC Framework
Ensure SC is perceived as a positive and value-adding partner to Motiva’s Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex
Actively engage with key stakeholders from different business units to gather requirements and specifications to incorporate into sourcing strategies, supplier selections and decisions
Develop and implement sourcing strategies for assigned categories (materials and services) designed to support business needs
Perform purchasing activities in compliance with procurement standards, controls, and ethical business practices
Develop and maintain on-going relationships with relevant stakeholders to influence, shape and support key business initiatives
Continuously seek out and identify ways of taking out cost to meet individual and team targets and work with stakeholders to optimize spending
Negotiate key commercial terms and conditions, including equipment and labor rates
Analyze RFx packages and make key stakeholders aware of risks
Liaise with Legal and Risk Management staff as required to ensure contractual terms and conditions are acceptable and serve to minimize risk
Communicate with contractors as focal point for issue resolution
Experience and Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, or a related technical or commercial field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, commercial negotiations, contract development, contract management or related field
Available to work extended hours to support turnaround activities
Able to build relationships with internal and external business partners
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Capacity to manage concurrent projects in an extremely organized manner
Strategic thinking skills with ability to analyze and simplify large data sets
Preferred Education and Experience:
Knowledge of sourcing and contracting processes and procedures
Manufacturing experience
