We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to lead and execute commissioning activities for complex mechanical and process systems on high-tech projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to ensure that systems are commissioned in accordance with design intent, project specifications, and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform commissioning of mechanical and process systems, including:
    • Exhaust fans and ductwork systems
    • Air handlers and ductwork systems
    • Lift stations (gravity and associated piping)
    • Waste collection systems and piping networks
    • Scrubbed abatement systems and associated controls
  • Witness and document equipment start-up activities performed by vendors.
  • Execute functional acceptance tests (FATs) and detailed commissioning scripts.
  • Track, report, and close out commissioning issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review design documents, project drawings, specifications, P&IDs, and shop drawings to verify commissioning readiness.
  • Evaluate commissioning-related RFIs and perform field compliance verification through detailed walkdowns.
  • Review contractor submittals and quality test reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop commissioning plans, schedules, and procedures aligned with project milestones.
  • Monitor commissioning progress, maintain updates to schedules, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to management.
  • Serve as lead engineer on small to moderately sized commissioning projects.
  • Provide regular commissioning communications and updates to clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Support project management activities as required.
  • Foster strong working relationships with contractors, vendors, and client representatives.
  • Operate safely within a construction environment while ensuring all commissioning activities comply with site safety protocols and standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned..    

Skills Required:

  • 2+ years’ experience in mechanical commissioning within large-scale industrial, semiconductor, or high-tech facility projects.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, process utilities, and commissioning best practices.
  • Ability to interpret and work from P&IDs, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational abilities with experience coordinating across multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in commissioning documentation, reporting, and issue tracking tools.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Education / Licenses / Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Chemical Engineering is strongly preferred, but not required.
