ROLE SUMMARY
This is a laboratory-based position within the Vaccines Early BioProcess Development – Formulation Development group. The individual will perform routine studies to support formulation and process development of vaccine drug product formulations for proteins, glycoconjugates, RNA as well as adjuvants.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform studies to support formulation development for new antigen candidates across vaccine modalities with moderate supervision.
Prepare routine vaccine formulations and analytics for animal studies.
Calculate amounts of active ingredients and excipients to achieve the desired formulation composition.
Follow the established procedures to perform formulation characterization.
With guidance, support development of scalable formulation processes for liquid and lyophilized vaccines products.
Document experiments, analyze data, provide interpretation and conclusions obtained from formulation development experiments contemporaneously in an electronic notebook as directed.
With guidance, draft formulation protocols, dose instructions and technical reports.
Contribute to and participate in general laboratory maintenance activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must Have
BS in Pharmaceutics, Biochemistry, Life Sciences or related discipline with 3 to 5 years of related work experience, or MS with 1 - 3 years of experience
Relevant experience in pharmaceutical formulation and process development is a must.
Good interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
Nice to Have
Experience in formulation development for vaccines, other biologics and adjuvants is preferable, and experience in their delivery technology platforms
Experience in lyophilization development
Experience with utilizing various biophysical formulation characterization techniques such as UV-Vis, DSC, CD, osmolality, Karl Fischer, particle sizing, and zeta potential
