At The Place for Children with Autism, we’re more than a therapy center. We’re a team on a mission to help children with autism thrive. As a Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow, you’ll be conducting autism diagnostic evaluations and contributing to leading and expanding our autism diagnostic evaluation program. You will gain specialized knowledge, experience, and skills to provide diagnostic Autism evaluations for children ages 1 to 12 years. This role is ideal for someone who is both clinically excellent and creatively driven, someone who thrives in building new programs, shaping systems, and delivering meaningful impact to children and families. The ideal applicant will also play a key leadership role in contributing to the design and development of a gold standard, evidence-based diagnostic program.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct supervised evidence-based autism diagnostic assessments to children ages 1-12, using gold standard tools and procedures. You will participate in all stages of the evaluation process, including intake, test administration, scoring, interpretation, and feedback.
  • Participate in two hours of weekly individual supervision with a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in autism diagnostics, including clinical skill development, case discussion, professional identity, and ethical practices.
  • Lead structured and semi-structured diagnostic interviews with caregivers to gather developmental, behavioral, and psychosocial information essential to accurate case conceptualization.
  • Build expertise in autism-specific tools (e.g. ADOS-2, ADI-R), and broader cognitive, developmental, and adaptive assessments commonly used in early childhood evaluations (e.g. Mullen Scales, Stanford-Binet-V, Vineland).
  • Integrate assessment data into clear, comprehensive written reports that support diagnostic clarity and provide families with concrete, evidence-based recommendations for intervention, school planning, and community services.
  • Participate in caregiver feedback sessions, delivering results in a compassionate, accessible, and culturally responsive manner. Support families in understanding diagnoses and navigating next steps.
  • Access optional training and mentoring in areas such as community outreach and marketing, leadership development, billing and insurance processes, and clinical workflow optimization.
  • Work closely with psychologists, BCBAs, and other clinical professionals to coordinate care, refine diagnostic impressions, and align recommendations with the child’s therapeutic needs.

What We’re Looking For

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical, school, or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship.
  • Experience conducting autism assessments with young children, including toddlers.
  • Experience conducting diagnostic intake interviews.
  • Experience administering and scoring autism-specific assessment measures (e.g., ADOS-2, ADI-R, ASRS, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience administering and scoring broad cognitive and developmental measures (e.g., Mullen Scales of Early Learning, Stanford-Binet-V).
  • Excellent assessment report-writing, communication, interpersonal, and team skills.
  • Experience delivering assessment feedback.
  • Effective organizational, time management & prioritization skills.
  • Clinical experience with Autistic and neurodivergent individuals.
