What You’ll Do

As an Assistant Coach at Veritas Prep, you will support the Head Coach in facilitating a successful basketball program while helping student-athletes grow in their skills, teamwork, and leadership abilities.

You’ll also:

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting effective practices and game strategies.
  • Provide individual coaching and feedback to student-athletes, fostering improvement in their physical and mental game.
  • Help maintain discipline and uphold the values of sportsmanship, fair play, and teamwork among players.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with the Head Coach to formulate and execute team goals and objectives.
  • Monitor the overall development and academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring they remain eligible to participate.
  • Assist in the organization of team events, including games, practices, and offseason conditioning.
  • Promote a positive team culture that encourages growth, hard work, and collective success.
  • Facilitate communication between student-athletes, coaching staff, and parents, addressing any concerns that may arise.
  • Observe and learn from the Head Coach to develop your skills and potential for future coaching opportunities.
  • Support the Head Coach in game-day preparations and logistics to ensure a smooth operation during competitions.

What You’ll Need

  • Prior experience playing or coaching basketball is preferred.
  • A good understanding of basketball tactics, skills, and rules.
  • A passion for mentoring and supporting student-athletes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An unwavering belief in the ability of all students to excel and succeed.
  • A commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive environment.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States; candidates must have this authorization by their first employment day.

COMPENSATION: Intramural athletic coaching stipends are dependent on length of season, practice schedule, etc.
