Program Overview

We are excited to launch our Engineering Design Internship Program for talented college level students. This hands-on program offers students the opportunity to gain real-world engineering experience in the design and manufacturing of critical offshore equipment.

Position: Engineering Design Intern

Department: Engineering Design

Location: Houston, Texas

Duration:  Winter Program: TBD; Summer Program: May 18, 2026 through Start of Fall Semester (89 days or fewer)

Program Description

Selected interns will work directly within our Engineering Design Department, contributing to actual projects that impact offshore operations. Interns will gain practical experience using industry-standard design software while working alongside experienced engineers on real-world applications.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Utilize Autodesk Inventor to modify existing product drawings and create new technical drawings
  • Prepare engineering drawings and documentation for manufacturing processes
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on custom equipment design projects
  • Assist in design reviews and contribute to design optimization
  • Learn and apply industry standards and best practices for offshore equipment design
  • Support the engineering team in preparing manufacturing-ready documentation
  • Participate in design meetings and cross-functional team collaboration

Learning Objectives

By the end of the internship, participants will:

  • Gain proficiency in Autodesk Inventor for professional engineering applications
  • Understand the design-to-manufacturing workflow in a specialized engineering environment
  • Learn industry standards and requirements for offshore deep sea well equipment
  • Develop technical drawing and documentation skills
  • Experience working in a professional engineering team environment
  • Build a portfolio of real-world engineering design projects

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a student with a class level of Junior or higher by the summer of 2026
  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Completed coursework in engineering graphics, CAD, or technical drawing (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD software (training will be provided)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Interest in offshore energy industry and manufacturing

This position is considered an internship and does not qualify for benefits. This employment will not extend for more than 89 consecutive work days. This program is intended to be an education experience only.
