The Opportunity

Slows Bar BQ is seeking a dedicated Prep Cook to join our culinary team. As a Prep Cook, you will play a vital role in preparing high-quality ingredients and supporting the kitchen in delivering excellent food to our guests. This position allows you to hone your culinary skills in a fast-paced environment while being part of a respected brand known for its BBQ.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of salads, sides, sauces, and other items according to recipes and standards.
  • Perform basic cooking tasks such as chopping, mixing, and cooking to ensure all ingredients are ready for service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and prep areas.
  • Ensure all food items are stored properly and labeled in accordance with health regulations.
  • Participate in inventory management by reporting stock needs and helping keep track of supplies.
  • Understand and adhere to health and safety standards in the kitchen.
  • Assist the team in ensuring that all food safety practices are followed.
  • Support other kitchen staff during meal preparation and service as needed.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform repeated tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and move heavy items as needed.
  • Comfort working in a hot and typically busy kitchen environment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
